But it’s not all bad news. We found this niche after scraping the wall – what do you think is behind it? Dead knight, tunnel to the Old Mint, treasure? Desperate to see how big the hole is, thinking to add a fish tank if it’s a decent size. Have the most gorgeous chair on order, been coveting it for years, and I mean years, and never had the place for it. Now, its goes perfectly with the art deco corbels and will be placed next to the niche with a little table next to it.
This week sees us stapling the façade which has meant damaging the traditional tiles (pout) and knocking the garage through. Yup, a garage in Valletta which we will probably rent out once the house is on the rental market. It’s quite stressful to see these walls being taken down, there are over 2 feet thick and I am having the occasional hot sweat thinking about it! The Michael Bay film was shooting in the street this weekend, think the area is supposed to look like Benghazi. Think the state of my house has a lot to do with that!!
And there is some construction too. The shaft to house the services is almost up so soon, the electrician / plumber will start and we will see what his response is to my bathroom layout.
Time for a cuppa and to work out what kind of floor to put in the damaged floor’s place.
