The roof terrace in the house is quite large and has a view of Manoel Island. I’d wanted to create 3 canopied areas which allowed semi private dining and sunbathing on the top deck and have a traditional Maltese boat filled with cushions to chill out in.
Having had time to mill around the house and change a few things in the builder’s absence, I decided on a skylight above the bath in the uppermost floor and moving the sundeck to above the kitchenette; from here the view is amazing and it allows for more social dining on the terrace. Oh, and the bloody great boat I found to use as the sofa.
I had imagined something much smaller, but, gifthorses and mouths and an emotional meeting meant the 22 ft dghajsa ‘Seabird’ now resides in our garage, awaiting TLC. I have started to buy the cushions and have sketches of the foam – though someone suggested a hammock. Not sure about that as I have bad experiences with video evidence of my ungraceful attempts to get in and out of the blessed things.
Volunteers are welcome to come help scrape and sand. Really, don’t all rush at once!
