The Gozo Film Club is proud to announce the first edition of the Gozo Film Festival that will take place on Gozo between Friday 25 and Sunday 27 August. This is a three-day long event promoting Gozitan & Maltese and international filmmakers and one that will offer the general public free viewing of selected movies, spanning different genres.
The Gozo Film Festival will screen a total of 32 short films, including a number of Maltese and Gozitan productions; three feature films and two documentaries.
The features on the programme are French Comedy When Pigs have Wings, directed by Sylvain Estibal; award-winning Maltese drama Simshar directed by Rebecca Cremona; and UK psychological thriller Gozo by Miranda Bowen. The documentaries – both Maltese productions – are The Pinnacle of Excellence and Developing Destinations
The festival will be held on the picturesque St. John’s demi-bastion of the Gozo Citadel, in the heart of the island’s capital, with indoor (air-conditioned) and outdoor screenings.
The programme also includes an educational children’s session on film and a filmmaking analysis session.
The event is being held in conjunction with VisitMalta, the Gozo Ministry and Malta Film Commission.
