Time to nest

British furniture designer and manufacturer Blackbird London have launched their debut furniture collection, Let There Be Light, in-store and online.

The collection comprising of handcrafted tables, mirrors, lighting and accessories, was designed by Founder & Creative Director, Maggie Calmels and her partner Louis, taking inspiration from the cosmos and solar system.

Each piece of furniture is handmade in their central London workshop, where they have devised a range of metal textures specifically for the Let There Be Light collection including the popular ‘crater’ finish which evokes the pitted surface of the moon and the ‘ripple’ texture which represents the sand dunes on Mars. To complete each item, Blackbird London hand-apply metallic finishes in old gold, antique silver, bronze and white bronze to represent the colours of the cosmos.

Items can be bought as seen, but also to match individual decorative schemes, pieces can be varied via a made-to-order service which offers a variety of alternative textures, finishes and tops.

Founder & Creative Director, Maggie Calmels, said “After months of planning and preparation, we are delighted to reveal our debut furniture collection, Let There Be Light which is all designed and handmade here in London.  Every piece is unique and designed to stand the test of time so it can be enjoyed for generations to come.”

All pieces from the Let There Be Light range can be found at Blackbird London’s boutique showroom in Battersea, or online at www.blackbird-london.com.
