I love rediscovering an older product all over again.
I hadn’t used bioderma sébium mat shine control in a couple of years in my kit, possibly because I had so many similar products to get through and just forgot about it, also I tend to try a lot of stuff for my kit that I forget what works best.
Fast forward to the end of June (heat wave beginnings) I needed a different shine control badly for my bridal parties and I didn’t have time to wait for an online order or go in to one of the big stores so I dropped in to my local pharmacy to see what they had. When I was looking through the bioderma range, I remembered I used to always use the sébium mat shine control, so got it straight away!
This is one of the best products I have been using all summer! It is a fantastic makeup base. The first thing clients say to me is what’s that? it smells amazing followed by wow my skin feels fresh, followed by a screen shot of the product. It hydrates, primes, smooths pores and mattifys without giving a dry look to the skin. It’s for combination, oily and sensitive skin but I’ve used it, even on skin that’s dry and it’s worked perfectly. If the skin is very dry and flaky, I’ve mixed it with my trusty embryolisse and I’ve gotten great results too.
Skin prep is vital to a good makeup look, ESPECIALLY in the Maltese climate and this has cut down my prepping time because the product doubles up as a primer but hydrates like a moisturiser and I don’t like layering too much product in the heat.
All that said, I still recommend bringing a blot powder and fixing spray along with you if you have a long event as we also have to be realistic with this humidity.
I’ve always used a couple of bioderma products in my kit but I will definitely try some more of their products, they seem to have very specific and targeted products for lots of different skin types that address lots of concerns.
My only complaint – I wish they’d make a big pro size version… I am already on my second bottle! Love it!
